The day Bambam meets Elif’s mom who fostered him till the journey day.

Bambam

The story begins with an unneutered dog named Cooper who ended up having a litter. Bambam was born into Cooper's second litter and was initially given to someone who was struggling with depression and addiction. Unfortunately, this person couldn't care for him, and Bambam ended up being neglected. When the original owner realized the living conditions were poor, he immediately took the puppy back.

During a trip to Istanbul, Elif visited her close friend and noticed a second dog playing wonderfully with Cooper. She asked what was going on, and he explained the situation. He told her that Bambam was an incredible dog and he could never bring himself to give him away to a stranger online. However, he said he would trust her to take him.

At the time, Elif was living in Barcelona with her boyfriend, Fabio. They had been talking about getting a dog and planning to visit shelters, but they just hadn't found the time. When the offer was made, Elif sent a photo of Bambam to Fabio and asked if they should adopt him. Fabio immediately replied saying he was already in love. Even though she had no idea how the international adoption process worked, Elif decided right away that she would take this sweet boy to Barcelona.

Because Elif can be quite impatient, she started the adoption process that very same day, and Bambam got his first vaccine. The required waiting period for international travel began. For a while, her friends in Istanbul looked after him. However, when left alone, he developed separation anxiety and started chewing on things. To help him, they sent him to a wonderful dog trainer. Knowing Bambam was moving to Spain, the trainer not only crate trained him for the flight but also taught him commands in Spanish, as Fabio didn't speak any Turkish. Bambam learned some great tricks, got entirely comfortable with his crate, and then went to stay with Elif's mom in Mersin for the remainder of the waiting period.

When the time finally came, Elif's mom brought him to Istanbul, and Fabio flew in with all the documents to bring Bambam to Spain. Sadly, it turned out they had miscalculated the exact dates for the required three month waiting period after the titer test, and the paperwork wasn't quite ready. Between the missing documents and the massive language barrier between Fabio and the original owner, it was a chaotic day. Fabio had to return to Spain without Bambam.

Determined to get him home, Elif reached out to a dog rescue group based in Spain and found a girl who had previously brought her own dog over. With the help of a local association in Turkey, they transferred Bambam's paperwork to her, and she generously acted as a flight volunteer, bringing him safely to Spain on the correct date.

Today, Bambam is an incredibly happy dog, and Elif jokes that she can hardly afford to buy her own clothes because she spends so much on him. He still loves the travel crate he flew in; it is his safe space where he sleeps and plays with his toys. He is a very social boy who loves people and enjoys riding the metro. He is not a big fan of the beach and wants to leave the water immediately, but he absolutely loves the mountains and his favorite dog parks.

He is also extremely food motivated. He never forgets a shop that gave him a treat or a pet store where they bought toys. Just like a little kid, he will drag Elif into those stores so she can buy him something.

Life has changed a bit since then. Fabio and Elif went their separate ways, but she was lucky enough to find a fantastic roommate who takes care of Bambam when she is away on tour. Adopting Bambam is truly one of the best decisions of her life. She is so deeply in love with him; he's just so sweet.

He often comes to the studio with her. He stays perfectly quiet while she works, and as a reward, she takes him to a massive dog park afterwards. He has an amazing sense of direction and could easily navigate his own way to his favorite parks. He knows his commands perfectly, though he refuses to do them unless she has food in her hand. At home, he is incredibly calm, but when they first step outside, he turns into a hyperactive bundle of joy.

He is certainly well fed, enjoying a diet of fresh food, bone broth, coconut oil, turmeric, omega 3, and salmon oil. He is the beautiful, spoiled baby of the house, and Elif wouldn't have it any other way.
