Being a flight volunteer means accompanying a dog on an already booked flight to its new family. It’s a simple way to make a life-changing difference for a rescued dog, offering a safe journey from uncertainty to a loving home.

The process is straightforward. Rescue organizations handle all logistics and provide clear instructions to ensure everything runs smoothly. A cargo booking (or cabin, if the dog weighs under 8 kg) will be added to the volunteer’s flight reservation to transport the dog.

Before departure, the dog is brought to the airport and checked in through customs by volunteers. Upon arrival, the dog's owner or another volunteer will meet you and the dog at the airport. The flight volunteer’s role is limited to traveling with the dog and presenting the required documents when necessary.

This small act provides a vital link between rescue organizations and adoptive families, giving the dog a second chance at life. No special preparation or additional travel arrangements are needed—just the willingness to help.

Here you can find some organizations you can contact if you’d like to become a flight volunteer. Before an upcoming trip—or if you frequently travel between Turkey and another country—you can reach out to them to see if there’s a dog in need of transport to your destination. You can also follow their social media accounts to stay updated on flight volunteer requests and share these opportunities with others.
