When Joyce and Alvaro first encountered the story of the dog then known as Orman, the depth of his loss was heartbreaking. Discovered wandering alone in the Sivas region of Turkey, an area devastated by recent earthquakes, he was a survivor in need of a sanctuary. Through a collaborative effort between Holly and Oli Rescue and local partners, his rehabilitation began, eventually leading him across the ocean to New Jersey.
The search for a forever home did not last long. Upon seeing his profile, Alvaro felt an immediate pull to act. Within a single week, the transition was complete, and the dog began its new life under a new name: Keanu .

Though he arrived from a world of upheaval, Keanu quickly revealed a serene and patient nature. His presence has brought a unique harmony to the household by acting as a steadying force for the family's high energy child. Even as the newcomer, he has become a silent mentor to their first dog, Chelsea. He continues to teach her new things that make them both great companions side by side.
Watching Keanu's personality emerge has been a profound experience for his family. The once solitary wanderer has transformed into a playful goofball who finds equal joy in sprinting through the park and claiming his spot for cuddles on the couch.
For Joyce and Alvaro, Keanu was the gentle soul their pack had been missing. While they provided the home, they feel it was Keanu who ultimately chose them, completing their family with his resilience and affection.
