Mavi and her four siblings wandered the dusty streets of Hisarönü, with their devoted mother never too far behind. The little canine family survived by sleeping near the bins outside the Pine Valley Hotel, relying on the kindness of locals and passing holidaymakers for food. One by one, the puppies and their mother were safely rescued, until only Mavi remained, the very last pup on the street. Soon, her time came too, and the entire family was reunited in safety at the Hunter's Animal Rescue Program (HARP).
In August 2024, Lieselot discovered HARP on TikTok, promptly messaging the rescue and joining their Facebook community. Eager to support their mission, Lieselot set up a monthly sponsorship for one of the dogs, and her mother immediately wanted to do the same. Her mother chose Mavi, initially calling her Cindy before restoring her name to Mavi, falling completely in love with her photos. Lieselot reached out to inquire about the adoption process, and that was when they received a heartbreaking update: every single member of Mavi's family had found a forever home, meaning Mavi would have to watch her mother and siblings leave while she was left behind. Lieselot's family knew they couldn't let that happen. Even though they already had a full house with three dogs, two Boxers and a rescue from Spain, they decided a rescue from Türkiye would fit right in. The adoption process was officially finalized, and they welcomed Mavi home in November 2024 when she was just ten months old. By February 2026, she had already celebrated her second birthday in Belgium.

The journey truly began when they picked Mavi up at Brussels Airport. The initial week proved quite challenging; Mavi was exhausted from the long travel, while the resident dogs were bursting with excitement to meet their new sister. As the days passed and everyone adjusted to the new routine, the tension melted away. Lieselot and her family quickly noticed a beautiful bond forming between Mavi and Nami, the rescue from Spain, who became inseparable best friends. Mavi revealed herself to be the sweetest, most gentle soul, completely capturing the hearts of everyone she met. Today, Lieselot's family cannot imagine life without her. Lieselot wholeheartedly encourages others to consider adopting a dog from Türkiye because of how incredibly grateful these animals are. While they require patience and time to adapt to a new world, once they finally settle in, their true characters shine through, and that is when the real magic begins.
