Soda

Soda – formerly known as Hazel – comes from Izmir, Turkey, or at least that’s where her story took a dramatic turn. She was found abandoned on a highway, thin, unwell, and in desperate need of help. Kind strangers stepped in, and soon she was taken under the wing of Pets in Turkey, where she began her long road to recovery.

For several months, she received the care, food, and medical attention she needed in Izmir. Slowly, Soda regained her strength and her sparkle. By the time she was healthy enough to travel, she had transformed from a fragile, exhausted pup into a bright-eyed girl ready for a second chance.

While she was staying with a foster family, her photo appeared on Instagram – and that’s when everything changed. Her future family – Zeynep, Güney, and their 9-year-old son Arda – spotted her and instantly knew she was meant to be theirs. It was love at first sight, the kind of connection you can’t explain but feel in your bones.

Always ready for belly rubs

Soda and Zeynep

A few weeks later, Soda arrived in Amsterdam, and she has been a proud Amsterdammer for the past three years. She quickly settled into her new life with Zeynep, Güney, and Arda, winning all of their hearts. She’s not the type for marathons or high-energy adventures, but when she’s excited, she walks on her hind legs in pure joy.

Soda’s days are filled with life’s sweetest pleasures – claiming the warmest spot in the house for a nap, enjoying her favorite treats, and curling up close to Zeynep, Güney, or Arda for a cuddle. She may not be the most energetic dog, but when she’s happy, she proudly walks on her hind legs as if to say, “Life is good.”

For Zeynep, Güney, and Arda, bringing Soda home wasn’t just an adoption – it was welcoming a loving companion who fit so seamlessly into their lives. From a lonely stretch of highway in Turkey to a safe and happy home in Amsterdam, Soda’s journey is a beautiful reminder that sometimes the best decisions are the ones made with the heart. 💛
